UNLV School of Nursing
Preparing Nurses. Improving Lives.
For over 60 years, the UNLV School of Nursing has been the heartbeat of Southern Nevada’s healthcare workforce. Our mission is to advance the science of health and healthcare by preparing nurse clinicians, educators, leaders, and researchers to optimize health equity and wellness of individuals, families, communities, and populations.
The UNLV Difference
The UNLV School of Nursing is Southern Nevada’s primary driver of healthcare workforce capacity. We don’t just graduate students; we produce resilient leaders who view nursing as a calling.
About 94% of our BSN graduates stay and practice in Nevada.
We offer the state’s only PhD in Nursing and a full suite of degrees from BSN to DNP.
We launched the Direct-Entry MSN (DEMSN), Nurse Midwifery, and Nurse Anesthesia (CRNA) programs to address local shortages.
Our online Master’s programs consistently rank in the Top 25 nationally (U.S. News & World Report).
Healthy Futures Ahead
At a time of rapid change, the role of nursing has never been more vital. Yet, despite forming the backbone of our healthcare system, only 1% of all philanthropic dollars nationwide are directed toward nursing. This funding disparity comes at a critical moment. National projections indicate that by 2030, nearly 40% of the nursing workforce intends to retire or leave the profession due to burnout, representing a potential loss of one million registered nurses.
As the UNLV School of Nursing looks ahead to its next 60 years, a philanthropic partnership is essential to sustaining our momentum, expanding our capacity, and meeting these overwhelming workforce demands.

Strategic Investment Priorities
Student Access & Success: Scholarships to remove barriers for our diverse student body, many of whom are first-generation or working parents.
Pathway Programs: Initiatives like Nurse Camp that spark interest in future generations.
Faculty Innovation: Recruiting and retaining top-tier educators and promoting faculty innovation.
Strategic Growth Priorities: Improving the Clinical Simulation Center of Las Vegas and future Nursing facility expansion.
