Support the UNLV Food Pantry

The UNLV Food Pantry is a year-round resource available to students, staff, and faculty, providing both perishable and non-perishable food items for those in need of additional support.

UNLV has observed a growing trend of individuals among students, faculty, and staff identifying as 'food insecure.'

We encourage everyone to support this service, ensuring that our campus community can complete their higher education journeys and support their families as well.

"It is difficult to learn or work when you are hungry. Addressing food insecurity and hunger is public health in action."
- Shawn Gerstenberger, dean of the School of Public Health.

The UNLV Food Pantry was established in 2010 in response to a need within the UNLV community, which was facing economic challenges. Since then, the pantry has continued to serve faculty, staff, and students throughout the year.

Members of the UNLV community can visit the pantry once a week to stock up on groceries, including grains, instant meals, canned foods, protein sources, and baking staples. Fresh fruit and vegetables are provided based on availability.

The pantry receives over 30,000 pounds of food donations and provides food for nearly 4,500 patrons each year. The Food Pantry is supported by UNLV CSUN, GPSA, the Division of Student Affairs, the School of Public Health, the Provost, and the UNLV President.

"With over 50% of our student population facing food insecurity, it is important to have a viable and sustainable food pantry for our campus community."
- Vice President of the Division of Student Affairs, Keith Rogers.

Help Fight Food Insecurity at UNLV

One in five UNLV students experiences food insecurity, and an increasing number of faculty and staff are in need as well. The UNLV Food Pantry provides free, healthy, and balanced groceries, as well as other essential personal hygiene items, to individuals facing economic challenges. Help us make sure no one in the UNLV community has to choose between food and other necessities this semester.

Students volunteering at the food pantry

“Before I started college, my brother started bringing items from the UNLV Food Pantry home to share with my siblings and me. He was the first in our family to go to college, and now I’m a UNLV student too, so the extra support really helped our family. My brother and I both work at the food pantry now and get to pay forward the help we received.”
